As Executive Director of ACA, Marylouise is responsible for strategic vision, planning and implementation of projects and initiatives relating to raising awareness of issues that affect US citizens living abroad. Marylouise began her career in communications management working for over ten years at three San Francisco-based advertising agencies. During her tenure at BBDO and McCann-Erickson Marylouise managed communications and promotional efforts for a variety of consumer goods and services accounts, new product development and test marketing. In 2002 Marylouise brought that experience to American Citizens Abroad (ACA) where it has been essential to ACA’s advocacy work on Capitol Hill in her role as the key liaison to Washington legislative and administrative offices; Congressional offices, Joint Committee on Taxation, Senate Finance Committee, House ways & Means, IRS and The US Treasury. Marylouise is often quoted in major media publications and is called upon by offices on Capitol Hill for her expertise in the issues and problems facing US citizens overseas. Marylouise splits her time between Washington, DC where ACA is now currently headquartered, Switzerland where is lived for over ten years and Italy where her family is from.
